Friending Policy

Hi, welcome to my journal *waves*

I don't post all that much; to be honest, I'm still warming up to the idea of opening up myself on the internet.

All of my fics are posted open for all to see; so you don't have to be friended to read what I write.

Only some of the stuff I post which relates to real life is friends-only.

I probably won't friend back everyone who friends me... I'm sorry, please don't take it personally... but if we've not chatted, I'm just not comfortable opening up my personal posts to you. Thanks for understanding.

Uh... what's Dreamwidth??

Life is good.

Busy, but good.

Re-shuffling priorities: work, work, work, husband, watching footie, getting my butt outside and enjoying the gorgeous weather... then comes internet / LJ.

So no near end in sight for this on-going more-or-less hiatus.

BUT: I was on LJ today, and feel like all the cool kids are on there way somewhere, and I'm about to miss the bus... what's up with Dreamwidth? Looks like a lot of people are going over there --- is it instead of LJ? In addition to LJ? If I don't move soon, will I come back here in a couple of weeks and hear nothing but the echo of my typing in an empty room????

Thanks for the scoop!

Respect, Barca

Wow. For a Bayern fan, that really hurt.

But for a football fan, what an night. Thanks, Barca, for showing us some of the most beautiful football I've ever seen. Perfect passes, super crosses, absolute precision, complete dominance. Henri, Eto'o and Messi... wow. No other words come to mind.

And Camp Nou - I would have preferred to win here (or at least played well here...) but what a stadium, what an atmosphere.

Maybe I'll write more later if I can bring myself to.

Sometimes, I think I 'm intersted in fashion.

So, I checked out some pics from this week's big shin-dig in Paris.

Here's a preview:

EDIT: clearly, as pointed out  by [info]sweetestremedy , Petr Czech has been spending time with the Paris fashionistas!

CL Draw - GO BAYERN!!!

So... we got Sporting Lissabon.

At first glance, this looks waaaaay better than someone like Chelsea. Ooops, wait! I almost forgot Bayern's habit of failing to take "lesser" opponents seriously.

So should we be scared??

I plan to stay optomistic. After all - I just managed to buy tickets for the home-game / return leg game in Munich!!!

*hops around like mad and is extremely pleased*

Confused-Micho

OK - here's a wierd one.

Does Coke Zero exist in the USA - or is it only over here in Europe?

If it's in the USA, is there a lot of hype around it? Did it have a huge market launch?

(need to know for a study I'm working on... and things like this are really hard to find out by googling!)

Thanks for your help!!! XD

Um... any tips on making icons?

  • Jul. 17th, 2008 at 5:03 PM

OK - I'm sure you've all noticed that all of my icons are more or less stolen.

Am starting to feel a little guilty about that. Plus, I have a growing picture collection that I'd like to make some icons out of.

But here's my problem - when I take a pretty good hi-res picture and crop it, then import it directly as a .jpg into my icon list, it comes out like this one: blurry and just not very good.

I'd be hugely grateful if anyone had any tips on how to make nice icons out of pictures (even just getting a good image would be a start for me, I'm not looking to make animations or add text or get fancy!)

Thanks! *MWAH*

OK, pardon me while I have a fangirl moment...

This look:

Oh yeah. I love it. Right on. Bring it on. Makes me wanna see more.

But this look?:

What's up with the little-boy-playing cowboy thing?

*sigh*
Just when you were making a real fashion statement, Gianluigi, it all derailed.

Request for Icons?

Now that I'm all geared up for the Euro - I've realized that I'm seriously lacking in the icon department!!!!

Because I am totally hopeless when it comes to icons --- any one have any hints / links for me where I can get good National Team icons? I'm especially looking for the German national team (DUH!), Lahm being my absolute favourite. But I'd also like to be able to support some other teams, too... especially Spain, Czech Republic, Croatia and (cringes) France.

Thanks in advance for any links you can steer me towards!!!

*hugs you all*

Managed to snag last-minute tickets for tonight's match against Bielefeld. Was awesome to see the guys live in the stadium again - even if they celebrated the Meister in Wolfsburg already, the atmosphere in the Allianz Arena was fantastic tonight.

Random ramblings about the game, the celebration, Sosa and Sagnol )

Ich fahre nach Berlin!

Packing list: FCB jerseys? Check! Husband's Lederhosen? Check! FCB Flags? Check! Binoculars? Check! Camera? Check!

So now I'm on my way to the airport (gee, I haven't been on a plane in almost 48 hours...) to fly to BERLIN! A good friend got us DFB Pokal tickets - look for us on TV; we are in the upper tribune, but pretty much directly behind where Angela Merkel will be sitting - and I'll bet they'll show her on TV!

Wish you were all at the game with me... I'm sure our fan section would scream and squee louder than the rest of the stadium combined!!

I'll be offline until Sunday night... will picspam on Monday.

I'm leeeeeeeving, on a jet-plane....

OK - I'm getting on a plane first thing tomorrow morning and heading off for what I hope will be a very exciting week.

I will barely have any time for LJ - so if I miss anything big, please link to it here. Thanks.

I'll also be posting about my trip under friends-lock (as I'm paranoid about giving away personal stuff on the internet...)

See you in a week! *waves good-bye*

It's OK to be a hopeless romantic...

OK, I have been totally stressing about how to continue my current 5/6 saga. I'm just fresh out of ideas of how to work in more plot twists, more suspense, more... I don't know what... more... something.

I came across this quote last night, and it totally set my heart at ease:

my attemt to translate these beautiful words:

"Most romance novels published in Germany have taken the moonlight, the harps which sound through the valley in the evening; in short, all the usual suspects which gently rock the reader into a peaceful frame of mind and made them somewhat absurd. But in spite of that, a yearning lives inside each one of us, which is fulfilled by reading this kind of literature; and it is the work of a genius to take this yearning, which we usually try to fight against, and use it. To love, and to be loved, is something so beautiful, that this ballad of love can be repeated over and over until the end of time, without our hearts growing tired of hearing it."
Germaine de Stael, taken from About Germany

I feel so much lighter, after reading this. It's OK to write pure, unadulterated romance, love, and happy endings. Our hearts, our very souls yearn for it...

YEAH! my muse is back!

*runs off to keep writing*

I've seen that a few of you out there are Ottl fans ;)

In case you missed this (it's only in German on the FCB website) - Ottl has extended his contract with FCB through 30. June 2011!

Highlights of the news blurb:

Ottl: "I have shown that I can play at a top level, and I see my chances as being here. I believe that I will be able to make my breakthrough."
